Project 1: Journey of the 5 Senses

Project 1a Precedent Studies: Analysing Spatial Poetics & Spatial Typologies in Architecture

The objective of this project is to identify and analyze spatial order and spatial poetics through precedent studies. In a group of 5, we need to select 2 precedents for analysis. We have chosen Chichu Art Museum by Tadao Ando -linear typology and the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests in Beijing, China -conentric typology.

Final Boards

By using the same design strategies based on project 1a, we are to propose 2 schemes for a walkway space themed 'journey for the 5 senses' with two contrasting spatial types which is concenteric and linear typologies. We are to analyse and visualise given literature (Where The Wild Things Are), poetry and lyric (Mad World) from an architectural viewpoint and transfer them into walkway space.

Project 2: GENIUS LOCI: Site Analysis & Concept Development

For project 2, we went for a site visit at Bukit Cina, Malacca. In the same group as Project 1, we required to conduct a site analysis of the Bukit Cina, includes interpreting and analyzing the genius loci of the place.

As a starting point, we need to produce a digital presentation about the site analysis of identified macro & micro site.

Project 3: GENIUS LOCI: Visitor Interpretive Centre (VIC)

Further developing project 2, Project 3 required us to design an visitor interpretive center emphasizing a strong engagement and relationship to the site, spatial experiences and programmatic requirements.
